If you’re a passenger with reduced mobility or from the older community, we want to make your experience at Shannon as easy as possible.
Passengers with restricted mobility are welcome to park in over 30 spaces closest to the Terminal Building in our Short-Stay car park. If you require PRM assistance from the car park, feel free to contact us from any of the contact points in the car park. Or find out more about parking for visitors with reduced mobility here
If you are dropping off or picking up, you can get up to one hour free parking in Short Stay Parking. To avail of this offer, you can present your entry ticket and Blue Badge at the Car Park Customer Service office.
You’ll find reduced mobility toilet facilities throughout the airport building which are clearly indicated by both directional and overhead signage.
There are a number of lifts and escalators located in the terminal building which are well signposted and most lifts have directional inbuilt voiceovers and Braille control buttons.
Facilities for those who are Partially Sighted
Guide dogs and assistance dogs are welcome in the terminal building.
Airport signage is clearly placed, well lit and uses optimum colour contrast to ensure they can be read easily.
All passengers must pass through the security check before reaching the departures lounge. This search may be carried out by hand or by using hand-held detectors. If you prefer, a private search area away from the main area can be provided.
Our website is designed with WCAG 2.0 AA compatability. This gives users the best online experince, regardless of limitations or disabilities.
Shannon Airport has wheelchairs available free-of-charge for use within the airport.

Shannon Airport and Reduced Mobility
SAA has established quality standards in order to regulate assistance provided to people with reduced mobility and from the older community. These standards were set in consultation with airlines and their agents as well as organisations representing those with reduced mobility.
Bidvest Noonan provides Person of Reduced Mobility (PRM) services at Shannon Airport on behalf of the SAA towards compliance with the implementation of EC Regulation 1107/2006 (Rights of Disabled Persons and Persons with Reduced Mobility when Travelling by Air). Bidvest Noonan has responsibility for all PRM requests for assistance and the efficient distribution/rotation of wheelchairs throughout the airport.
Passengers should make arrangements for PRM assistance directly with their airline, however non pre-booked assistance can also be requested from the PRM Assistance Desk at the airport on the day of travel. The service is available daily between 05:00 and midnight and shall be extended for situations such as delayed or diverted flights outside of normal hours of operation.
On arrival at the airport, the Assistance Desk can be contacted for PRM assistance from any of the contact points in the short stay car park or long stay car parks 1, 2 or 3. The PRM reception desk is located in the Departures/Check-in area and all passengers wishing to avail of the service should register here on arrival at the Airport (before proceeding towards security screen/departure gates).
