When you land

Warsaw Modlin airport is around 35km north-west from the city centre and you’ll find plenty of buses and trains to bring you to the city centre

See the sights

Taking a walking tour is really a must and many tour routes are dotted with art cafes and charming galleries, and many of those you’ll probably only find with a nudge in the right direction from a local.

You’ll be struck by the volume of modern architecture here as sadly so much of the city was almost completely destroyed during World War II.

St. John’s Cathedral really stands out among the numerous churches to be found in the city’s historic centre. And on the edge of the Old Town, you’ll see the Royal Castle perched proudly.

It’s also worth taking in The Palace of Culture and Science, a gift from Stalin and the Russian people in 1955. The viewing platform all the way up on the 30th floor is the ideal spot to view the city from a great vantage point.

For every Old Town there’s a New Town and Warsaw’s doesn’t disappoint. You should drop by the haunting Warsaw Rising museum and see just why the city is no longer the architectural splendor it once was with interactive displays, artifacts, photographs and compelling video footage.
