* Schedules are subject to change. Please check with your airline directly for the most up-to-date information.

Whether off on a city break or to see friends in Central Europe, get your trip to Vienna off to a perfect start and enjoy close airport parking with short walks to the terminal. You’ll also love the relaxed atmosphere at Shannon - no congestion and no hassle guaranteed!

The Austrian capital is known as the City of Music, and you can certainly look forward to experiencing some amazing sounds (as well as sights - and flavours) when you book your flight direct from Shannon Airport.

Getting Around

As soon as you land in Vienna, you’ll discover that the city has one of the best public transport systems in all of Europe, including trains, trams, buses and the U-Bahn (an underground railway), as well as the S-Bahn regional trains. There’s a flat fare system in place for all types of transport. Pick up a Vienna Travelcard for access to all public transport networks in Vienna. There are 24, 48 and 72 hour tickets available and you can purchase them at any U-Bahn station.

Exploring Vienna

Built in the 1600s, Schönbrunn Palace is one of Vienna’s main tourist draws. This vast 1,441 room palace was home to the Habsurg Monarchy and was the birthplace of several Austrian emperors. The Schönbrunn Gardens belong to the palace’s complex and are worth visiting in their own right.

For a short-cut to the city’s major sights, take the yellow Vienna Ringtram from Schwedenplatz to enjoy a 25-minute trip around the city with a running commentary.

Head for heights? St. Stephen’s Cathedral offers a panoramic view of the city from the  viewing platform which sits at the top of 343 steps. There’s a lift available if the climb seems too daunting.

What to eat in Vienna

From Wiener schnitzel to Sachertorte, Viennese cuisine is world-renowned and getting to sample it in its place of birth is reason enough to fly to Vienna. Be sure to try Kaiserschmarrn while you’re in the Austrian capital. It’s a mouth-watering dessert consisting of shredded pancakes mixed with various different fruit compotes.
