When you land
From JFK International Airport, expect to pay $5 for the AirTrain, which gets you to the city’s subway in under an hour and a taxi will set you back $45 or so.
From New York Stewart International, Coach USA’s Stewart Airport Express offers a fast, easy, express bus service between the airport and New York City. It takes about 90 minutes and you’re best off buying tickets online first.
Manhattan
Now here’s a real tourist’s dream – from the neon-tinted excitement of Time Square, to the picturesque tranquility of Central Park, there’s something for everyone. There are plenty of great places to eat and drink around Midtown or the East Village and if you fancy a shopping splurge, you can head to Macy’s or Bloomingdales for high quality goods.
Shopping & Entertainment
And speaking of shopping, Madison Avenue is where it’s at for so many. Bursting with designers like Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani and Jean-Paul Gaultier, this will test your credit card. On Fifth Avenue, you’ll find high-end department stores including Bergdorf’s and Bendel’s.
New York’s skyline is dominated by skyscrapers like the Rockefeller Centre and the Empire State Building, both of which offer tremendous views of Manhattan, and you can’t go far without running into a top class gallery or museum – the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the American Museum of Natural History being two of particular note. And of course, a show on Broadway is still a big part of the New York experience.
Sport
The Big Apple loves its sport and is home to the world-famous New York Yankees and the Mets (Baseball), the Giants and the Jets (Football), and the Knicks (Basketball). Visit any one of these great stadiums and you’re sure to meet many colourful fans too!
