When you land
The city centre is about 15km from Manchester Airport, and you can get there by taxi, bus, coach, or train on arrival. If you’re there with the family, bear in mind that travelling to the city by train is probably the best option as two adults and two children can climb aboard on a monthly return ticket for just over £15.
Known as the birthplace of the railway system, the city featured prominently in the industrial revolution. And you’ll notice many of the city’s museums and galleries are dedicated to that period in history.
Premier League heavyweights Manchester United and Manchester City ensure that Manchester itself is a big draw for football fans while the National Football Museum, located close to Victoria Train Station, is jammed with memorabilia for all sports fans.
