Krakow Destination Guide

Fly Direct to Krakow

Whether off on a city break or to see friends and relatives, get your trip to Krakow off to a perfect start and enjoy close airport parking with short walks to the terminal. You’ll also love the relaxed atmosphere at Shannon - no congestion and no hassle guaranteed!

Only a three hour flight from Shannon, Krakow is the most popular tourist city in Poland and has so much to offer. Remember to pick up some official currency (Polish Zloty) before you go although some places do take euro.

When you land

Once you get there, you’ll find an express bus waiting outside Terminal 1 to take you the 12k to the city centre. Taking a taxi is also an option but can prove expensive by comparison.

Where to stay

There are plenty of accommodation options to suit all budgets. From The Old Town to the hip neighborhood of Kazimierz, you’ll find the option that’s right for you.

Culture & Heritage

Steeped in culture and architectural wonders, you’ll notice Renaissance, Gothic, and Baroque buildings standing tall and proud throughout the town.  Historically, kings of Poland were crowned and buried here in times gone by and the city setting feels almost regal, overlooked by the riverside Wawel hill.

A visit to the Castle and Cathedral is highly recommended.  As is Wieliczka salt mine, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You should also take in St. Kinga’s Chapel – an underground church that contains opulent sculptures and reliefs, almost all of which are carved from natural rock salt. Remember too that Krakow is home to one of the world’s most poignant and heartbreaking sites, Auschwitz.

Food and Drink

The thriving café, bar and restaurant scene throws up plenty of choice. And from gritty, bohemian bars and beer halls to chic, elegant cocktail and wine establishments, you’ll no doubt find exactly what you’re looking for.

Start planning your trip and find out more about Krakow right here.
