Customs

At Shannon, you’ll see three customs channels in operation - blue, green, and red. Based on where you are coming from and what you have to declare, you will pass through one of these.

Who is the Blue Channel for?

If your flight commenced in another EU country, you do not have to make any declaration to customs on arrival and you can proceed directly through the Blue Channel.

Who is Green Channel for?

If you arrive at Shannon on flights from non-EU countries, the Canary Islands or Channel Islands. Or if you arrive from an EU airport on a flight that originated outside the EU must clear customs in Ireland by going through either the Green or Red Channel.

Choose the Green Channel if you are sure that you have no more than the allowances to which you are entitled and you’ll see these posted on notices around the baggage hall – and have no prohibited or restricted goods. For more information on Irish Customs and Excise regulation information, including allowances and details of prohibited and restricted goods, you can visit the Irish Revenue Commissioners right here

Who is the Red Channel for?

This is like the Green channel but with a few key differences. If you arrive in Shannon on a flights from non-EU countries, the Canary Islands or Channel Islands. Or if you arrive from an EU airport on a flight that originated outside the EU must clear customs in Ireland by going through either the Green or Red Channel.

Choose the Red Channel if you are in doubt about the allowances to which you are entitled or have any prohibited or restricted goods.
